It was an awesome weather day here, and it was my run workout day. I noticed a lot of people out today, more that normal. They all seemed to be doing the same thing though, either jogging really slow or running for a bit and stopping to walk. I don’t know what bugs me about this, I should be happy that more people are getting off their butts and working out. I guess that I just have the mentality of go all out or nothing at all engraved into my brain. This is usually easily noticeable when I’m at the gym on a treadmill. There are usually 2-3 different “neighbors” that I get throughout my run, and they all seem to look at me funny for being sweaty. Who knows maybe someday if my intense competitive drive wears off I’ll just hit up the gym for a 1mile run at a light jog. I just hope I never get there.

So this morning was my first ever triathlon, I’ve only been training for it for about 5 days. I haven’t swam more than a 100 in probably about 2 years, but I was still 3rd out of the water. The bike was about what I expected little more hilly than I would have liked but oh well. Still averaged about 22mph and came in from the bike still 3rd. The run was ok, it was through the woods and so it wasn’t so hot, but only being able to see 50feet infront of you makes a run seem really slow. Well I ended up 5th overall (out of 350) and won my age group so I’m pretty excited. I’ll probably log some more running hours so I don’t slow down so much when I get off my bike. Well that’s about all, my legs are sore so I think I’m going to take a nap.

Day 1 of actual Triathlon training. I’m already in great shape from rowing in college for the past 4 years. Rowing is mainly a sprint though, anaerobic work at max heartrate for 6min. I’ve heard that the transition from biking to running is pretty tough so that’s what I did today. They didn’t lie it was pretty challenging, but I made it. Let’s see how I shape up for my first Tri race this weekend. (I know only a week of preparation may be short, but it’s probably the best way to keep me from falling off the whole working out every day thing.)
